You're going to just love the new changes in Scrippy 3, especially the copy/paste feature!!   Below is a list of the new features!!

Object copy/cut/paste.     The Edit menu now has functions to Copy, Cut, and Paste entire Scrippy objects.  When you use these features with container objects, the entire container including all objects inside it is copied/cut/pasted.  AND ...  you can copy objects from one Scrippy and paste them into another Scrippy!

Netscape support.  YAHOO!!   Stationery and Web pages created with Scrippy will now display correctly in Netscape 6.1 and later!

Improved e-mail compose and reply format.  When a reply is typed above the stationery, instead of in the message area box, it is now visible in the resulting message - the stationery displays and runs below the reply text.  While composing an e-mail or replying to one, a representation of the stationery is displayed using solid colors to represent tiled images.

Improved appearance in incompatible programs.  When a stationery or web page created with Scrippy is viewed in an incompatible program, or in a program with "scripting" turned off, a more useable representation of the stationery or web page is shown, with a message informing the viewer that there is a problem.  Scrippy offers an explanation of what the problem might be and how to fix it on this web page:   http://www.scrippy.com/help/mail/    Please be advised that this is for information only and Scrippy can not offer customer support for problems related to the individual programs.

Changed how "Insert" of new objects works. When you insert a new object, it is now inserted as soon as possible below the last object you worked on.  (In Scrippy 2 the new object was inserted at the end of the current container.)

Colored scroll bars.  You can specify colors to be used when scrollbars are displayed in a stationery / web page. This new option is in Message Area objects.

Edit undo/redo.  The Edit menu now has Undo and Redo functions. The title bar at the top of the Scrippy window shows an asterisk when the current stationery has been changed since you last saved it.

International character support.  Scrippy's handling of international character sets is improved.

Color entry in HTML format.  The windows used to specify colors now have a box which can be used to enter the color value in HTML format.

Option to suppress Loading Message.  You can entirely disable loading messages by using a checkbox in the Loading Message object.

New "Options" object.  This object contains settings for the stationery's minimum display size, title, hyperlink colors, and overall background color.  See below for details.

Options

This object serves a number of purposes which affect the overall stationery.  Each part is described below.

You can create a "default" Options object which will be used in any stationery which doesn't have a special Options object of its own.  To do this use the "Tools" menu and select "Default Object Settings".   Unless you specifically make changes to these settings when creating a stationery, the defaults will be used for all Scrippys you create.

Minimum Display Size

This now does what the "sizing container" did in Scrippy 2.  This sets a minimum size for the entire stationery.  This is useful when you don't want the recipient to resize the stationery smaller than a particular size, e.g. because that would cause some positioned objects to move into overlapping positions.  If the recipient displays the stationery in a window smaller than the minimum you specify, they will get scroll bars in their window and the stationery will remain at the minimum size you specify.  For more detailed information on when to use this setting click here.

Background Color

The color you specify here is used as the background color for the entire window.  This can be useful in three situations:

       1.   When you want to set the color displayed around the outside of the stationery in e-mail programs while composing a message.

       2.  To make the transition effect smoother while the stationery is loading.  The color specified here is displayed at the very start of the loading process.

       3.  When you don't use a Loading Message and you do want to set a default background color. The sequence of using colors for backgrounds is 1) If there is a Background object with a color then that is used, otherwise 2) If there is a Loading Message then that color is use, otherwise 3) The color from the Options object is used.

Since the color specified here is used as the background for the entire e-mail compose window, we recommend avoiding dark colors here.  Most people have their e-mail program set to use a dark color when they type text.  So if you use a dark color here it might be hard for the e-mail recipient to see what they are typing when they reply to you.  Of course this is not a consideration when you are creating a web page.

Page Title

This is important only when creating a web page.  The text you enter here is what will display in the title bar of your visitors' browser window, and it will be used as the default name of your page when they add your page to their Favorites.

Hyperlink Colors

If you insert text hyperlinks in a Message Area then you may want to set these colors.  By default the colors used to display text hyperlinks are based on the viewer's browser settings.  Those default colors might not work well with your stationery's text colors and backgrounds.  If you have a dark background, the default hyperlink colors might even make the text nearly invisible.

Note that you don't need to set the "mouse-over" color.  If you don't set it then links will remain in the "unvisited" or "visited" color even when the mouse is over them.
