Example #2 Instructions

(I am including all instructions for each example, but if you're doing these in order, you

can skip down to the step numbers shown in pink for the new additions to each example)

First you need to start a new Scrippy work area, or what I call the Master Scrippy.  Click on File > New.

STEP 1 - The next thing I usually do is add a background to my Master Scrippy, in this case I'm using this light pinkish texture.  Just click on Insert > Background and select your graphic. For now I'm using the default settings.

STEP 2 - Now I want to add the Positioned Container to my Master Scrippy and I want this container to be 400 pixels wide by 400 pixels high.  Let's say that I also want the container to be "centered" on my stationery.

Click on Insert > Container > Positioned

You will be given the container settings box as shown below.  Here are the settings I used when I created this container.  You will notice that if you click the preview button at this point you won't see the container because it's basically an empty, miniature Scrippy waiting for you to put something inside it.

IMPORTANT - Click on the Positioned Container button that you just created over on the left hand control panel before adding anything to the container.  You must do this so that all the objects you add next will be placed inside that container and the buttons for those objects will be indented as shown in the graphic at the bottom of this page.  If you forget to do this and add an object that should be inside the container, but it's somewhere else, just drag that button under the container to place it there.

STEP 3 - Next I added a double frame around my container.  Click on Insert > Frame  and choose the color, type and width you want.  Click the preview button now and you will see your blank container.  Be sure to click back on the Positioned Container Button on the control panel to continue inserting objects into the container.

STEP 4 - Next I added the background flower graphic by clicking on Insert > Background.  Here are the settings I used.

STEP 5 - Finally, with the Positioned Container button selected, I added a Message Area by clicking on Insert > Message Area.   Below are the settings I used for the margins.  (Note that you can left, center, or right justify the text by clicking on the appropriate buttons on the top Scrippy tool bar located next to the color palette)  When you type the text, you are typing on the full screen background in the container .. but when you preview your stationery, the text will be sized to fit into the container.

When using a fixed size container and you type more text in that container than the container can display, Scrippy gives the viewer a scroll bar to use in order to read all the text.  If you don't want the scroll bar you'll need to change the size of the container to accommodate the text .. or switch to automatically expanding containers and message areas.

This is how the buttons look on my control panel for this example.  Unless you make a change to your Loading Message you won't have that button, but all the other buttons should be the same.

This example adds text to the container.  See notation under Step 5 below for more information on adding text to "fixed" sized containers.

If you want an automatically expanding "container and message area" please see Example 8.
